How this calculator works
- Sloped area = footprint × pitch multiplier. If you entered actual sloped sqft, leave pitch at 6:12.
- Squares = sloped area ÷ 100, plus waste. 1 square = 100 sqft of finished roof.
- Bundles assumes 3 bundles per square for standard architectural / 3-tab; 4-5 for premium laminates.
- Underlayment assumes 4 squares per roll of synthetic (400 sqft / 10 squares per roll for some products — verify with manufacturer).
- Drip edge ships in 10-foot sticks; we round up.
- Nails assumes 4 nails per shingle and ~80 shingles per square = ~320 nails per square.
